National ‘Have a Coke Day’

National ‘Have a Coke Day’ is celebrated on May 8th. Although it may be true that things go better with Coke, how about making yours a more “healthy” cola beverage, using tea as the base of a special drink that is actually quite reminiscent of cola? Having been a TikTok trend in recent years, there are many different recipes for a coke-like drink, but when you add some tea bags, you have a refreshing iced tea cola that you can serve for any occasion.
Check out links to some online recipes for Tea Cola in our Resource Center. Here is our favorite Tea Cola recipe (caffeine-free).

Tea Cola

4 Organic Rooibos Chai Tea bags (Numi)
1/4 cup boiling water
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
¼ tsp non-alcoholic Almond Flavoring
1 packet SweetLeaf organic stevia sweetener
1 can LeCroix Lemon Sparking Water (cold)
1 small pinch ground cloves
Ice cubes
Tall glass and straw

Directions:
Place 4 tea bags into a mug and add ¼ cup boiling water. Let tea sit to steep and cool while you prepare other ingredients.

In a tall glass, add 1 tsp balsamic vinegar, ¼ tsp almond extract. Stir in entire stevia packet.

Remove tea bags, and pour the strong chai tea into glass. Add small pinch of ground cloves. Give another stir. Add Lemon LeCroix sparkling water a little at a time so that it doesn’t bubble up too quickly. Place straw in glass,, give one swirl and add ice.

Sit back and enjoy your refreshing tea cola…..ahhhh!

It’s Cinco de Mayo!

May 5th is always time to party. This year, how about a fiesta….teatime style! Enjoy a get-together for this fun holiday as an afternoon tea party. Think traditional Cinco de Mayo favorites, but with an iced tea twist, riffing on classic beverages by serving a margarita tea “mocktail”, sangria tea, or even pina colada tea. Pair with fun nibbles inspired by the delicious flavors of Mexico and you have yourself the makings of a one-of-a-kind Cinco de Mayo tea party. OLE!

Tea-tastico Pairings:

  • Margarita tea and nachos: Enjoy a classic combination of a refreshing “mocktail” margarita made from a tea bag mix, served with loaded “sheet pan” nachos (made with Siete grain free tortilla chips). This is a sure hit for your friends and family and prep is fun and easy. Deliciosa!
  • Sangria tea and carne asada: Pairing the robust full-flavor of a pitcher sangria tea (sliced fruit and all), with a rich protein choice is perfecto! The acidity of the fruity sangria iced tea stands up to this traditional meat, especially when you prepare carne asada tacos. Carne asada tacos are a delicious finger food to enjoy for Cinco de Mayo!
  • Pina Colada tea “mocktail” with spicy sliced fruit and vegetable: If you’re looking for a light, fresh and tasty afternoon tea nibble, look no further than this delicious combo. Pina colada tea (made from pina colada flavored tea bags) served with sliced mango and jicama sticks sprinkled with spicy Tajin Classico Seasoning. Savor the cool, sweet tea with this spicy, sweet/salty juicy/crunchy mango and jicama snack, served on a festive platter.

Enjoy! Feliz Cinco de Mayo!
